After cementing his reputation as one of the finest shooters in NBA history by helping the Dallas Mavericks win their first championship, Peja Stojakovic has decided to retire after 13 seasons.best shooter of all time, thank you pedja!!
The three-time All-Star told ESPN.com on Monday that the physical toll involved in playing after a string of back and neck troubles, at age 34, convinced him that "it's time" to step away from the game despite interest from a handful of contenders in signing the sharpshooter away from the Mavericks. Born out of revolution, the United States is a country organized around an ideology which includes a set of dogmas about the nature of a good society. Americanism, as different people have pointed out, is an "ism" or ideology in the same way that communism or fascism or liberalism are isms. As G. K. Chesterton put it: "America is the only nation in the world that is founded on a creed. That creed is set forth with dogmatic and even theological lucidity in the Declaration of Independence. . . ." As noted in the Introduction, the nation's ideology can be described in five words: liberty, egalitarianism, individualism, populism, and laissezfaire. The revolutionary ideology which became the American Creed is liberalism in its eighteenth- and nineteenth-century meanings, as distinct from conservative Toryism, statist communitarianism, mercantilism, and noblesse oblige dominant in monarchical, state-church-formed cultures. The original conception of the Samson Option was only as deterrence. According to US journalist Seymour Hersh and Israeli historian Avner Cohen, Israeli leaders like David Ben-Gurion, Shimon Peres, Levi Eshkol and Moshe Dayan coined the phrase in the mid-1960s. They named it after the biblical figure Samson, who pushed apart the pillars of a Philistine temple, bringing down the roof and killing himself and thousands of Philistines who had gathered to see him humiliated. They contrasted it with ancient siege of Masada where 936 Jewish Sicarii committed mass suicide rather than be defeated and enslaved by the Romans. FULL ARTICLE

They say that when supping with the Devil, you should bring a long spoon.
The discovery of secret correspondence between the Labour government and the Gaddafi regime in the abandoned British ambassador’s residence in Tripoli reveals dining arrangements akin to snouts grubbing greedily together in one stinking trough.
The tone is occasionally risible. ‘Dear Muammar’, Blair begins a letter to Gaddafi on December 28, 2006, adding the Arabic New Year salutation ‘Eid mubarak’ with a toe-curling desperation to please. Maybe Gaddafi had already wished Tony ‘Happy Christmas’? I somehow doubt it. FULL ARTICLE

“Hardly is there a nation which has met with a sadder fate than the Serbians. From the height of its splendor, when the empire embraced almost the entire northern part of the Balkan peninsula and a large portion of what is now Austria, the Serbian nation was plunged into abject slavery, after the fateful battle of 1389 at the Kosovo Polje, against the overwhelming Asian hordes. Europe can never repay the great debt it owes to the Serbians for checking, by the sacrifice of its own liberty, that barbarian influx.”

After the shooting of unarmed Serbian civilians by K-FOR troops in Kosovo on 27 September 2011, I decided to channel my efforts into doing whatever I could to ease the suffering of the remaining Serbs there. I am preparing to release a track named 'Kosovka' to initiate my fanbase into a charitable and worthy cause. After weeks of research, I was alerted to the efforts of a young medical student named Slavko Tokanovic as well as the Serbian Orthodox Youth Association (SOYA) in Australia. Slavko spent a month in Kosovo last summer working closely with the Health Center Gracanica located in the isolated Serbian enclave in central Kosovo. During his time there, Slavko found that the Serbs had been left without a viable health network after being forcibly displaced from throughout Kosovo and Metohia after 1999. Ethnic segregation meant that Serbs were unable to access health care due to everyday discrimination and dangers they experienced from the side of the Albanians. Serbs of Kosovo and Metohia have since been building clinics and hospitals with what little they have and initial help from the side of humanitarian actions and the Serbian government. Slavko assessed which medical equipment and supplies were most critically needed and together with SOYA, raised the funds to purchase and deliver them to the Health Center Gracanica. Despite these efforts much more help is needed to get supplies and equipment to the Serbs living in these isolated areas in central and southern Kosovo. I am thus endeavoring to help raise money to aid our Serbian brothers and sisters, and I was truly honored when Slavko, SOYA and the Health Center Gracanica got on board on this project.
As a student of political science and someone with a keen personal interest in international relations, I saw with abundant clarity the double-standards under which the West tends to operate. It was of no surprise to me, therefore, that Albanians were favored even when it came to such basic human needs as healthcare. With insufficient aid, constant hostility and harassment by Albanians and the belligerence and bias of K-FOR, Serbs in Kosovo feel isolated and somewhat abandoned. Here’s an opportunity for Serbs worldwide, as well as global citizens who are pro-justice, to show support for our brothers and sisters in Kosovo and Metohia, who are in dire need. The time has come for us to reject this rampant defeatism and to help the too-often overlooked Serbian people in Kosovo. The least we could do is aid and enable our doctors heal our people.
The situation in Kosovo and Metohia may look bleak but it is far from over. As long as there are Serbs living in Serbia’s southern province, it is the duty of every global citizen to do everything in their power to ensure Serbs continue to live on their land without feeling oppressed and dehumanized. It is important to remember that Serbia was occupied for 500 years by the Ottoman empire and yet, she emerged stronger than ever with her culture, religion and territory intact. What is 12 years compared to 5 centuries? The entire history of Serbia is littered by periods of occupation by larger empires and their vassals, yet her very existence is testament to who emerged victorious. What makes NATO insusceptible to this fate?
We have patience, we have inat and most importantly we have justice on our side. We will regain the heartland of our country but ONLY if we are united.
