Kusturica to film novel by Ivo Andrić

Renowned Serbian director Emir Kusturica plans to build a stone town in Bosnia as a set for his new film.

Construction is due to begin in summer and will last for about three years before the filming starts.

The film`s script is based on Ivo Andric`s novel ‘The Bridge on the Drina’.

The story spans about four centuries during the Ottoman and subsequently Austrian administrations of the region and describes the lives of the local inhabitants, with a particular focus on Muslims and Orthodox Christians living in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
